3D SCANNING
Streamline Automation manufactures the FROG3D CNC system, developed primarily to capture and replicate complex geometries for the theming industry.
The FROG3D system encompassed two types of 3D scanners, both of which I was responsible for mastering as a technician with the company.
CNC LASER SCANNER
Capable of extremely high resolution scanning and configurable to capture geometries from a number of directions, the FROGScan was a precision laser scanner attached to an innovative 3-axis CNC table.
It was an excellent choice when high-resolution scans were required to allow for enlargement of the final output.
While I was at Streamline, I literally wrote the manual for this scanner.
HAND-HELD WHITE-LIGHT SCANNER
Neither as accurate nor as automated as the FROGScan laser scanner, the FROGScan Flash is portable and thus better suited to large-scale and/or offsite projects.
It’s also more nimble if you need to get into undercuts.
I still use the FROGScan Flash in my workflow at Architectural Cast Stone.
Some of the notable projects involving the scanners that I have undertaken include:
