INDUSTRIAL DESIGN PHOTO STUDIO
I constructed a small photo studio in the Industrial Design Studio at the U of A, for use by students in documenting project progress, creating imagery for assignments, and taking portfolio images.
The studio was equipped with 2 Canon digital SLRs and a selection of lenses, a number of professional overhead lights mounted on a rack, several tripod-mounted lights, a selection of paper backdrops on motor-driven rollers, several lightboxes, and two highly adjustable shooting tables of my own design, created on the CNC mill.
I created and mounted a number of quick guides in the photo studio, geared specifically for product photography and directed at users with little or no photography experience.
To complement the photo studio, I also created Digital Photography 101 in response to the apprehension that many students had in experimenting with the high-end digital SLRs.
